Cookie Policy
1. What this policy covers
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies (such as browser localStorage) that DronePoint uses on dronepoint.app, why we use them, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
"Cookies" here means small files or data entries a website stores in your browser. Some are essential to make the site work; others are optional and only used with your consent.
2. Your choices
When you first visit, we ask whether we may use optional analytics and advertising cookies. Essential storage is always on because the site cannot function without it. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time:
If you reject optional cookies, Google Analytics and Google Ads are not loaded at all. Clearing your browser storage also resets your choice, and we will ask again on your next visit. If your browser blocks storage entirely, we treat that as "rejected".
3. Essential storage (always active, no consent required)
These are strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for. They are not used for tracking or advertising.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
premiumKey | localStorage | Stores your Pro access key so paid features stay unlocked in this browser. | Until you sign out or clear storage. |
| Session token | localStorage | Keeps you signed in to a Team account between visits. | Until you sign out or clear storage. |
| UI preferences | localStorage | Remembers settings such as aircraft wind/gust limits and which panels you had open. | Until you clear storage. |
| Feedback / trial counters | localStorage | Limits how often the feedback prompt appears and counts free "best time to fly" forecasts. | Until you clear storage. |
dp_consent | localStorage | Records your cookie choice so we don't ask on every page. | Until you clear storage or we materially change this policy. |
4. Optional analytics & advertising (only with your consent)
| Provider | What it sets | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) | _ga, _ga_* cookies |
Aggregate usage statistics — pages viewed, broad location, device type, which features are used. Helps us understand what to improve. | Up to 2 years (cookie); event data retained per our Google Analytics settings. |
| Google Ads (Google LLC) | _gcl_* and related advertising cookies |
Measures whether a visit that started from one of our ads led to a checkout, so we can judge ad spend. Used for conversion measurement. | Up to 90 days. |
These load only after you click Accept. We use Google Consent Mode so that, until you consent, Google's tags are told not to store or read cookies. Data processed by Google may be transferred to the United States; Google relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses for such transfers. See Google's cookie information and Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Analytics that need no consent
We use Umami for basic, privacy-preserving traffic statistics. Umami does not set cookies, does not store personal data, does not fingerprint your device, and does not track you across sites. Because it is not capable of identifying you, it runs without a consent prompt. You can read about it at umami.is.
6. Third-party content that is not a cookie but still involves your IP
- Map tiles and geocoding (OpenStreetMap / Nominatim, Esri and similar) — the planner is a mapping tool, so serving map imagery necessarily sends your IP address to the tile provider. This is strictly necessary for the feature you are using.
- Elevation data (Copernicus GLO-30, Terrarium tiles, Open-Meteo and similar) — queried by our server, not your browser, when you use terrain follow.
- Google Fonts — our pages load fonts from
fonts.gstatic.com, which means your IP address is visible to Google when fonts are fetched. No cookie is set. If you would prefer this not happen, a tracker-blocking browser extension or a content blocker will stop it without breaking the site's layout in any meaningful way. - Leaflet map library and Lemon Squeezy checkout are loaded from their own servers; Lemon Squeezy sets its own cookies on its checkout pages under its own privacy terms.
7. How to control cookies in your browser
Beyond the controls on this site, every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and site data. Blocking essential storage will sign you out and reset your preferences; blocking third-party requests may stop map tiles or fonts from loading. Guidance: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.
8. Changes to this policy
If we add, remove, or materially change the cookies we use, we will update this page and, where the change affects optional cookies, ask for your consent again. The effective date above shows the latest version.
